Water Well Rehabilitation &
Abandonment
Rehabilitation of
improperly installed water wells is an important step in protecting the
quality of your drinking water, the water others may use, and safety on
your property. Wells that still have concrete lids above ground must be
modified to conform to Iowa DNR standards. Morrell Company is a licensed
water well contractor in Iowa and can properly renovate your well to
meet or exceed DNR requirements. Having Morrell Company do the job
allows a $600.00 rebate (good to June of 2000) from the State for taking
the proper steps in rehabilitation. Enforcement will come, so you are
better off to get some cash back now than to be forced to comply later.
Morrell Company also can work to renovate your private or public
well system using assured professional methods of increased production,
cleaning & sanitizing well systems. Continued maintenance after will
also provide quality water. Many bacteria's caused problems such as
odors, discoloration, and even reduced flow. Mineral deposits causing
reduced flow can be dealt with effectively also at Morrel Company.
Abandonment of wells should be done when the well is no longer in
good working condition, poorly constructed, or not in use. Cisterns also
apply to abandonment procedures. These are dangerous to leave
unattended, as people (especially small children) die or are injured
from old wells & cisterns annually. Again Morrell Company has proper
licensing to safely abandon & seal wells, allowing for $200.00 cash back
from the State for a limited time. Responsibility begins with property
owners to safely resolve these potential dangers, but will ultimately
end with forced compliance by the DNR.
